Really like these wood panels from Art Alternatives
FINISHED.
Just the smallest of tweaks to bring this one to completion. The adding of a line, a strengthening of a blue.
Now on to the varnishing and soon it will be ready to hang.
Layer 8. Now that this is in the final stages, I hang it in various rooms in the house. I have it sitting on an easel in the window seat. I look at it from every angle, in every light. I see the couple little niggling points that are calling for just a bit more. I respond.
I felt that I wanted to create the look of some coffee stains but have it be more permanent. I tried a few options, and a few colors, but settled on Sepia India Ink to achieve the look and color I wanted.
Layer 7. According to my daughter the upper left needed something. She felt her eye got stuck there. Followed some lines already there and enhanced them. Still needs a little bit more, but this one is really close. And is by far my favorite at the moment.
Layers 5 & 6. Major transformation on this one. Added color fields, something I have been wanting to explore. Lots of Manganese Blue and Burnt Sienna with black and white to create some lovely blue-greens.
Once that was dry, I took the paint scraper to it. Great distressed affects.
Wanted to grunge down some of the areas, so I did High Flow Raw Umber with Satin Glazing Liquid as a selective glaze. Very happy with that.
Added some oil pastel in the blue and the rusty colors.
Layer 4. Little bits of the Manganese Blue Satin Glazing Liquid over the blue green that was already there.
This one had some pencil marks added with the Stabilo Woodies.
Layer 3. This one, keeping with the Beginner’s Mind, I used Matte Medium and the fluid acrylics. Again, loved the mix ability, and like the matte better than the gloss.
Started with matte medium and the Burnt Sienna again and then mixed in some Manganese Blue and created such a lovely blue green/teal. Love it!
Decided to do a gray and did a large section of it. I don’t usually do that much dark. It covered up more than I would like, but this is about experimenting right?
Layer 2. Graphite Mark Making. Used my graphite block a lot on this one. Love how it skips across the papers.
Layer 1. It is all about collage. That vintage envelope with the pencil markings already on it. Very happy.
