18” X 24” watercolor paper
watercolor paper is a comfort zone
18” X 24”
This size is my comfort zone as well.
Paper is easy. If it doesn’t come out right, it is so easy to rumple it up and throw it away.
Conclusion: I strongly dislike working on paper, especially with acrylics. I don’t like the surface, and the inability to sand back is not worth my time to continue.
Layer 4. Favorite piece of Layer 4.
This is the one that encouraged to try the Manganese Blue Satin Glazing Liquid mix over the Burnt Sienna. With the Burnt Sienna I saw rusty bits and wanted to enhance that with the Manganese Blue.
I also used some Ionian Green Inktense block and pencil in spots. Drew the leaves with a stencil and the Intense pencil.
I am finding I really like bigger color field areas. Need to bring more of that into my work.
Layer 3. This one I also used the Satin Glazing Fluid and fluid acrylics on. A lot of Burnt Sienna and the glazing fluid.
Also added some Manganese Blue to create that amazing green.
Again, I love how using the color shaper tool with the paint mixture over the graphite lines fixed with workable fixative creates soft, blurry lines.
There is a lot I like about this one.
Layer 2. Graphite Mark Making. I do love the strong black marks on top of the kraft paper.
Layer 1. It is all about collage. This one has been sitting and waiting for a while. I think until I had sorted out the starting criteria for the project. This is also the one piece that started with the brown craft paper.
