Daily Drawing

Daily Drawing

Daily drawing is something that I have wanted to add to my art practice for a while now. We only get better at something with daily practice, and yet we can so easily talk ourselves out of that adventure.

I began a committed daily drawing practice at the tail-end of May, 2022 and thought I would do it for the month of June and then leave it behind once again. But, as the month went on, and I saw my drawings improving, or at least enjoying them more, the daily commitment became a priority. They followed right after my daily twenty minutes of Wild Writing.

I don’t have a specific subject to start the day. I often open a magazine or Pinterest and note what catches my eye, and set the pencil to sketchbook and begin. These are not meant to be completed drawings, they are just exercises in noticing, and learning what I like and what I could do without.

June Drawings

June projects. I love a June project, 30 days is the absolute right amount of time for a challenge.

I want to master the thick and thin line, explore drawing tables and windows, coffee cups and tea pots. And there is no better time of year for flowers.
