365 Days of Morning Walks

Nearly everything in my creative work is influenced by my morning walk. It is a time of peace and calm, as well as, curiosity and discovery. There are abandoned personal affects and amazing weathered surfaces.

September is a great time to start a photography project. We are on the cusp of a changing season, and heading into the quiet time of year, which makes my soul very happy.

I hope you will enjoy following along, and maybe you will even dig out your camera, or grab your phone camera and go for your own morning walk and find some interesting discoveries.

July 24 - Day 327

These colors made me happy today.

June 13 - Day 286

Still a lot of haze in the air from the Canadian Wild Fires.

June 2 - Day 275

Tin Type and Mextures.

June 6 - Day 279

Today’s find - a net bag from someone’s beach toys. I decided the surface for my finds just needs to be weathered. This stick someone stuck in the sand is perfect.

Last year’s remnants, before new growth.

May 14 - Day 256

Little Dragonfly Preschool pond for a Mother’s Day walk.

May 18 - Day 260

Interesting - I took a shot of this with a wider view, a medium view and a closer up view, I preferred the medium view.

May 22 - Day 264

Bit of a cheat today. This is the Dogwood tree in our backyard. Given to me Mother’s Day 2011. This is the most blooms it has ever had. I did walk into the backyard.

May 26 - Day 268

Lilacs still blooming.

May 30 - Day 272

Great water reflection this morning, and I love the green glow by the rocks.

Change of route today. Always good for the brain.

Early morning walk down the bike path.

May 31 - Day 273

An additional new boardwalk has been laid at the beach. Always love photographing the paths.

May 4 - Day 246

I haven’t done a photo of the lighthouse in a while, so today’s a good day.

May 8 - Day 250

Every year there is a dumpster in the spring for the cottage owners. I am always amazed at what is dumped.

May 12 - Day 254

Abandoned lawn chair with a broken arm. I loved the color.

May 16 - Day 258

More treasures in the cottage dumpster.

May 20 - Day 262

I have this weird obsession with found fishing bobbers, although they rarely photograph well. This one isn’t half bad.

May 24 - Day 266

Beautiful view at Windmill Island this morning. The location variety has been good lately.

May 28 - Day 270

Different kind of walk this morning. Allegan Antique Fair. Looking for textiles.

April 2023

April 1 - Day 213

Starting a new month, good to start grounded.

April 5 - Day 217

Sometimes you might feel squeezed tight into a difficult situation, but if you really look you will see a glimmer of light.

April 9 - Day 221

Easter Sunday morning - sunny, warmer and so peaceful. Atticus and I sat on one of the cement benches by the channel.

April 13 - Day 225

A visit to the windmill this morning.

April 17 - Day 229

Back to winter. 35 degrees and rain and snow. Like the perspective of this photo.

April 21 - Day 233

The last of the snow fences down and ready for storage.

April 25 - Day 237

I don’t do close ups as much as I would like to. So maybe this is the change, at least for today.

April 29 - Day 241

Before the cottage people return.

April 2 - Day 214

Clear blue skies and some fun light reflection and shadows.

April 6 - Day 218

I have been admiring the new deck and pergola they put on the front of this cottage.

April 10 - Day 222

Very gentle breeze, a great day to go down by the water.

April 14 - Day 226

MRI day today. So out early to get a walk in before the appointment.

April 18 - Day 230

Remnants of yesterday’s weather.

April 22 - Day 234

The cottage garden path.

April 26 - Day 238

Sand returned to the beach, and waiting to be spread and smoothed.

April 30 - Day 242

Intertwined.

April 3 - Day 215

Almost out. So wonderful to see.

April 7 - Day 219

When deciding between a morning walk that has open space, or the woods, I will always pick open space. I need it to think.

April 11 - Day 223

Somebody lost their boat cushion.

April 15 - Day 227

So warm out that I left my coat in the car, hence having no pocket, I also left my phone in the car, taking a quick photo from the parking lot.

April 19 - Day 231

Snow fences down and sand being leveled.

April 23 - Day 235

Inside the snow fence.

April 27 - Day 239

Frost on the plants this morning. I am worried about the fruit trees. We need our fruit.

April 4 - Day 216

It feels like a feet first kind of month. The environment hasn’t changed much in the last few months, maybe a new focus will help me keep going.

April 8 - Day 220

Love looking down at the water.

April 12 - Day 224

Blue skies and a beautiful sunrise with long shadows.

April 16 - Day 228

The weather has been perfect for the flowers.

April 20 - Day 232

Maybe this piece of machinery is my challenge for the week. Machinery and a view.

April 24 - Day 236

I just loved the tree in the background of this.

April 28 - Day 240

Busy day yesterday leads to low energy levels today.

March 2023

March 1 - Day 182

Let’s hope that March is filled with more promise.

March 5 - Day 186

Just a beautiful Sunday sunrise.

March 2 - Day 183

We have been trying to photograph this lost hat for a couple days now. Today was the day.

March 9 - Day 190

The sign that sidewalk repairs will begin soon.

March 6 - Day 187

An east wind allows a calm walk along the water, although Atticus is still keeping a wary eye on the gentle waves.

March 13 - Day 194

Back to darker mornings again for a little while.

March 17 - Day 198

I love rooftops at the top of horizons, and this is my favorite cottage.

March 10 - Day 191

Snow returns. At least six inches overnight. And a change of walk this morning. My favorite winter park.

March 21 - Day 202

That spot of sunrise between the two trees. Happiness! Hello Spring!

March 25 - Day 206

I first saw this old schoolhouse in 2014. Glen and I are in Kalamazoo for the weekend for his birthday. I wanted to find this place again. Happy to report it looks the same. Vicksburg, MI

March 29 - Day 210

Decided to take the route through the campground today. Lots of deer trails over the dunes.

March 14 - Day 195

Into the wide gray yonder.

March 18 - Day 199

Bitter cold and windy today. I decided to forego the beach and instead walk in the woods.

March 22 - Day 203

Needed to get out for a walk by myself this morning after doing my daily writing. I think best when walking or driving.

March 26 - Day 207

Henderson Castle. Our first historic hotel stay for the year. Less than hoped for, but the adventures were more than I could have imagined.

March 30 - Day 211

So desperate for something new in the morning. I never thought I would get bored with the beach walk, but I am. Hemlock Crossing and the Meadow Loop.

March 3 - Day 184

‘X’ marks the spot of sidewalk repairs, which I understand from a safety perspective, but from an aesthetic point of view, I prefer the imperfections.

March 7 - Day 188

Raise your hand in JOY! The sun is shining today.

March 11 - Day 192

Repairs completely in this section, but the yellow tape is annoying, hard to get around.

March 15 - Day 196

The lighthouse, ‘Big Red’ looked especially serene this morning.

March 19 - Day 200

What caught my eye was the silhouette of the line of trees in the distance against the orange of the sunrise.

March 23 - Day 204

Trying to avoid the rain today so headed east, and trying to vary locations. Zeeland Cemetery.

March 27 - Day 208

Big puddles from the rain last night. Makes for great reflections.

March 31 - Day 212

I think last weekend’s Victorian House adventure has inspired my eye. Rainy morning yet again.

March 4 - Day 185

Too bad this isn’t pink, instead of red, it would have kept the color scheme going.

March 8 - Day 189

I miss the low to the ground shot, but there is no way my shoulder will allow that yet, hopefully someday. But I found an alternative way for now.

March 12 - Day 193

Clocks sprung forward overnight. So later start than normal, but the rest of the world was still sleeping as well.

March 16 - Day 197

Shaking it up today. A walk through the campground. Soon this place will be overrun with clueless people again.

March 20 - Day 201

Another day of wind and a walk at a different place. I use to take Atticus here all the time when he was a puppy.

March 24 - Day 205

Last day at the beach for a few days, since Glen and I are going away for the weekend.

March 28 - Day 209

Beautiful sunrise this morning.

February 2023

February 1 - Day 154

Late walk this morning due to my first Acupuncture appointment. Was rewarded with sunshine. A rarity these days.

February 2 - Day 155

Another day of sunshine, and some lovely patterns on the snow.

February 3 - Day 156

Another cold day, 11°. So back downtown again. Atticus has had to find something new to practice his perching on. This fountain seems to work.

February 4 - Day 157

Cold and short morning due to the bi-weekly trip to the Farmers Market, so we just wandered down the bike path. Still the sun was lovely.

February 5 - Day 158

I love finding treasures on our walk. Someone’s lost heart.

February 6 - Day 159

Tranquil feeling Monday. A sunrise and no wind makes for a lovely morning walk.

February 7 - Day 160

Today’s word is Hedgerows. Gale force winds and icy paths kept us confined to the cottage area.

February 8 - Day 161

Acupuncture again this morning, so shorter and reversed route from normal, but that allowed a visit to the scenic viewer.

February 9 - Day 162

Another yuck day of rain and too little time for a good walk.

February 10 - Day 163

Just looking for anything out of the ordinary.

February 11 - Day 164

Still feeling uninspired, but also unwilling to give up.

February 12 - Day 165

This photo doesn’t capture it well enough, but what drew me was the way the light was hitting the top of the path.

February 13 - Day 166

I love morning shadows.

February 14 - Day 167

There is something in this for future mixed media art pieces.

February 15 - Day 168

Rerouted due to rain, so we got to wander by some cottages we don’t normally see.

February 16 - Day 169

Our last morning at the beach until I am back from a weekend getaway without Atticus. I will miss my baby.

February 17 - Day 170

Away for the weekend in Traverse City. Staying at a lovely condo at Sugar Beach. Cold walk along the beach, but still happy to have my water walk.

February 18 - Day 171

Same walk, different day, less chilly, different life ring.

February 19 - Day 172

A walk around the asylum before breakfast at Sugar 2 Salt. I can always find a doorway that thrills me.

February 20 - Day 173

Home again. A sunrise and a walk with my fur baby.

February 21 - Day 174

A bit brutal out there today.

February 22 - Day 175

The foreboding ice, a sign of the winter storm to come.

February 23 - Day 176

Everything coated in a layer of ice, very surreal and very beautiful.

February 24 - Day 177

Too much cuteness! I love this boy!

February 25 - Day 178

Atticus was determined for me to see this view this morning.

February 26 - Day 179

I don’t blame him for not wanting to move. Even though it was cold, the sunshine was glorious.

February 27 - Day 180

Even though this is suppose to be the sunniest February on record, I am yet again standing in a wintery mix with my cleats on and a wet dog.

February 28 - Day 181

The portal to March and spring - hopefully!

January 2023

January 1 - Day 123

Decided to take a break from Instagram, so the only place my daily morning walk photos are going to be for the moment is here on my website.

January 2 - Day 124

The thickest fog I have seen in a very long time. It made me so happy.

January 3 - Day 125

It isn’t always about the wide open space. Sometimes it is about the little details, the forgotten things. I always struggle with capturing these how I want with my iPhone.

January 4 - Day 126

Foggy, but no rain today. So we are back at our new favorite spot.

January 5 - Day 127

Walked very early today, so only a little light came at the end of our walk. But love this little glimpse back.

January 6 - Day 128

What do I see on my walk? I see the open space and the one thing that stands out in it.

January 7 - Day 129

Some progress on the slowest wall building I have ever seen. But, maybe slow is good.

January 8 - Day 130

Yesterday I dislocated my right shoulder, my dominant arm and hand. Getting the shot today was very challenging.

January 9 - Day 131

Based on my recent right dislocated shoulder, I thought this was pretty fitting today. Always trying to find the bright side.

January 10 - Day 132

Not very exciting photo I know, but there is less ice and snow, and we could walk along the shore today. It started to rain halfway through the walk, killed the mood for me.

January 11 - Day 133

Parked at the other parking lot today due to the light rain that wasn’t in the forecast yesterday. They never get the weather right. Wanted to avoid wet sand.

January 12 - Day 134

This piece was too big to carry with only one good arm, so I am slowly moving it day-by-day along our walk, until I get it to the car. It is a bit of the painted wall from the bathroom they remodeled last summer. I adore this color!!

January 13 - Day 135

I never tire of this section when we reverse the order of our walk.

January 14 - Day 136

Back to moving my chunk of concrete today. It is getting kind of fun to find locations to photograph it. And easy (sort of) to move with only one good arm. This could be a project/series.

January 15 - Day 137

Slept until 6:30 this morning, so a much later start than normal, but also a lot more light, and some BLUE sky. <3

January 16 - Day 138

A promise of a sunrise…maybe.

January 17 - Day 139

I love everything about this photo. The water reflection, the neutral palette, the evocativeness of the tail and foot. This is what I want for my art.

January 18 - Day 140

Yesterday kicked off a return to Instagram Stories, and a new possible series. A one word series. Today’s word was Attachment.

January 19 - Day 141

More rain, UGH! So tired of the rain, I would rather have snow. Today’s word is Reflect.

January 20 - Day 142

I could definitely do a series on all the lost shoes that I find at the beach. Today’s word is Helter-Skelter.

January 21 - Day 143

Finding the man-made in the natural world is becoming a bit of an obsession.

January 22 - Day 144

Someone built a cairn on the beach with found bits of rock and concrete. Perfect little peep-hole.

January 23 - Day 145

I find Mondays less than inspiring. Maybe it is all the gray and lack of sun.

January 24 - Day 146

Out early this morning. Light is always against us this time of year. And now that I look for something that I can add a word to, it makes it more challenging. Today’s word - Barriers

January 25 - Day 147

January has been largely without snow. I will take snow over rain. So much prettier.

January 26 - Day 148

Some very pretty, but wet and heavy snow overnight. Today’s word is Laden.

January 27 - Day 149

A sunrise today. It has been so long, but pursuing my man-made in the natural world instead with a hint of the sunrise.

January 28 - Day 150

Vastness and space never ceases to amaze me.

January 29 - Day 151

Lots of snow overnight caused a delay to our morning walk. Had to wait for the plow to clear the roads.

January 30 - Day 152

Cold and snow, the enemies of our morning walk, but we made it work today, even if it was short and quick.

January 31 - Day 153

Forced to walk downtown today due to the 11° and to save the dog’s feet. But we might have found him a job. ;)

December 2022

December 1 - Day 92

Rather a gloomy photo, and yet that is the season we are entering. I love the through the trees adventure to the lighthouse.

December 2 - Day 93

The mansion and the sky. Visible but unobtainable.

December 3 - Day 94

Work is slow on replacing my favorite stucco wall. I have a feeling whatever replaces it won’t look the same.

December 4 - Day95

Sundays are our slow morning. We get up later, and walk later. The light was so gorgeous this morning. Worth braving the wind.

December 5 - Day 96

Feels a bit like Narnia.

December 6 - Day 97

I will admit I never get tired of shooting this view. Something about the space, the No Swimming sign, the sky. Never the same twice.

December 7 - Day 98

Quickly disappearing full moon into the hazy horizon.

December 8 - Day 99

The last two weeks, in a subtle way, I have been exploring the idea of Small Stones. How small stones, when added together, because an amazing accumulation.

December 9 - Day 100

Nobody is more surprised than me that I have reached Day 100. What began as a project that might last a week, has now reached a big milestone, and will continue.

December 10 - Day 101

Even though I am not a fan of the mansion, this scene was a winter Christmas card today.

December 11 - Day 102

Sunday Mornings are turning into a favorite morning at the beach. We get up later, we have no place to be, we walk and sniff, and sometimes even sit and photograph our finds for the morning.

December 12 - Day 103

Atticus has learned a new skill this year - perching. He likes to show it off. This was the first day I got him to hold it so I could take a nice photo. He was watching a herd of deer on the beach.

December 13 - Day 104

It is a rare treat when the wind is coming from the east and we get to walk along the water’s edge.

December 14 - Day 105

I am not sure who Chuck is, but I hope he isn’t the guy I see at this cottage in the summer. He isn’t that old.

December 15 - Day 106

How many of us leave our porch light on these days? Do we want to invite someone in, or keep the darkness at bay?

December 16 - Day 107

Snow has returned. Might be a white Christmas after all this year.

December 17 - Day 108

The one house on the block that isn’t like the others.

December 18 - Day 109

In the years that we have walked here, I have never seen it drift like this right by the building.

December 19 - Day 110

The view. Feels peaceful, even if it is cold.

December 20 - Day 111

Tunnel Park Solo Walk after our normal morning walk. Little wind, and not too chilly had me walking the shoreline looking for discoveries. This one might be the turning point I was looking for.

December 21 - Day 112

Winter Solstice. But the main star is that bit of blue sky, even if it doesn’t stay at least I saw it.

December 22 - Day 113

Did the route in reverse today, and had fun walking across the frozen sand of the beach. Helps me to find new perspectives.

December 23 - Day 114

Day One of Blizzard Elliot proved to be a very boring morning walk. A brief venture down the bike path before the snowballs got the better of Atticus’ feet.

December 24 - Day 115

Day Two of the Blizzard - Not quite as cold, 16 degrees this morning, and we made it a little farther down the bike path.

December 25 - Day 116

Hopefully the last day of the Blizzard. Confined to one more morning walk on the bike path. Not a Merry Christmas.

December 26 - Day 117

The Blizzard has left us, and temperatures have returned to the 20’s. Atticus was very happy to be back to our normal routine.

December 27 - Day 118

I loved these swans trying to swim in the ice. They gave me a lovely heart shape.

December 28 - Day 119

The promise of sunshine today. Oh how WONDERFUL!!

December 29 - Day 120

I love how the ice on the railing made a “V” at the opening. All will be gone soon since it is in the 40’s today.

December 30 - Day 121

Fog. It makes me happy. Although this scene feels very post-apocalyptic.

December 31 - Day 122

We have been doing more walks along the channel and along the walk these past couple of weeks. This is something I want to do more of in 2023.

November 2022

November 1 - Day 62

The days of darkness are upon us, at least until the time change this coming weekend.

November 2 - Day 63

Finally a sunrise again. The sky was the most amazing color.

November 3 - Day 64

I love that pink cotton candy cloud in the sky this morning.

November 4 - Day 65

Good to change it up from always a sky photo. There are so many facets to this morning walk.

November 5 - Day 66

This reminds me of Andrew Wythe’s painting “Christina’s World”.

November 6 - Day 67

Sometimes it is good to remind myself one of the great benefits of our morning walks - noticing details. Love this pattern left in the sand from the rain overnight.

November 7 - Day 68

Maybe this is going to be a looking down week. The time change definitely gives us light again for our walks.

November 8 - Day 69

My best photo for the morning often comes from wherever Atticus decides to linger, because I have plenty of time to look around.

November 9 - Day 70

Bonus walk this morning with the Grand Dog Findley. I rarely post face photos of myself for a multitude of reasons, but I did it today any way. Do I love it, no! But is it brave, yes!

November 10 - Day 71

Very late morning walk today due to a breakfast fundraising event.

I have been participating in a November Gratitude Challenge - each day a prompt for something to be grateful for, I turned it into a photo scavenger hunt. Today is Something Blue.

November 11 - Day 72

Thank goodness for this project, and the accountability of this page I have created, or I might have let this morning slip by without a photo. This certainly seems to be a looking down week.

November 12 - Day 73

I knew I picked the right puppy when he was the one that would always be willing to let me photograph him. That hasn’t changed.

November 13 - Day 74

First bit of snow to stick on the ground. I love the feel of how it blankets and stills the earth. And all the colors I adore seem to shine a bit brighter.

November 14 - Day 75

I took this photo before I did my morning Wild Writing. Little did I know it was setting the scene for the day.

November 15 - Day 76

Timed this just right to great the big ship coming in. I always stand in awe of how silently they glide through the water.

November 16 - Day 77

The return of the sun. Grateful after the last few cloudy days.

November 18 - Day 79

Cold and windy confines us to the inland boardwalks, but there is still always something interesting to find.

November 19 - Day 80

There is always one house on the block with all the junk.

November 17 - Day 78

A memorial rose someone placed on the beach. Atticus found it very interesting.

November 20 - Day 81

The ice has begun to form on the railings along the channel. I love seeing it form and when it melts.

November 21 - Day 82

Still a forceful wind this morning, but at least a sunrise and the promise of some sun, and melting snow.

November 22 - Day 83

After days of cold and wind, such a calm morning. Atticus and I took time to explore the new mini sand dunes made by the wind. I love a slow paced morning.

November 23 - Day 84

The colors in the sky are pretty magical most mornings, and I love a dark silhouette against the pale sky.

November 24 - Day 85

I love the mysterious view through the pinhole. A glimpse into a magical world.

November 25 - Day 86

Somebody lost all their candy. Love the bright colors in the neutral colored sand.

November 26 - Day 87

A lovely sunrise. George’s cottage on the closest end. I can’t wait until he and Bella come back in the Spring.

November 27 - Day 88

A very wet morning. We had to break out the raincoat today. Good thing he tolerates it well.

November 28 - Day 89

Very hard to get back in the groove after a people-filled holiday weekend. This is the only photo I took for the morning.

November 29 - Day 90

A calm wind day allowed for a venture into the dunes and along the water’s edge.

November 30 - Day 91

This in-between hour is my favorite. The quiet, the stillness, the world is not quite awake and yet not quite asleep either.

October 2022

October 1 - Day 31

Saying goodbye to our beach for a week. I guess we will see what changes while we are gone.

October 2 - Day 32

Glen Haven Maritime Museum. One of my favorite places to photograph, and so often we stay so far away from here that I don’t get down here early for early sun. This week will be a treat to be so close.

October 3 - Day 33

There might be a simple beauty in our normal daily walk, I don’t have to decide where to go. Here there are too many choices and never enough time.

October 4 - Day 34

This morning as we stood on a nearly deserted beach and watched the sunrise, I realized that a sunrise never loses its magic.

October 5 - Day 35

I was fascinated by the lightning rods on top of the barn on our morning walk. Not any country barns where we normally walk.

October 6 - Day 36

First day weather day of vacation. We couldn’t avoid the rain, and spent some time sitting in a picnic shelter, but still managed to get a beautiful shot of Lake Michigan at Empire Beach.

October 7 - Day 37

I love a good set of mystery stairs without the destination in sight. Near Empire Beach.

October 8 - Day 38

Atticus’ 4th Birthday today, so I wanted to make it all about the walk for him. We explored the Port Oneida area, gravel roads, old barns, and lots of deer trails. This is the Miller Barn.

October 9 - Day 39

While not an amazing photo, it is an amazing memory. Walking into Glen Arbor on the last day of vacation for breakfast at a tavern that has stood the passage of time.

October 10 - Day 40

Back home once again, and the challenge to see the place I live with fresh eyes.

October 11 - Day 41

I saw this seagull sitting on the edge of the pier from a distance and was quite certain he would fly away before I got close enough to get a photo. But, he held fast and so did I.

October 12 - Day 42

Darkness continues to invade our morning walk, so for now I need to look for the man-made light.

October 13 - Day 43

Early walk today so that we could get home and have coffee & banana before a ZOOM call. Not a lot of options in the near darkness, thank goodness for horizon light.

October 14 - Day 44

Nobody is home, but the light is on.

October 15 - Day 45

We turned the corner and there she was.

October 16 - Day 46

This dog! I love him so much! He makes morning walks a priority in my life.

October 17 - Day 47

Windy, and dark, that describes this Monday morning.

October 18 - Day 48

Wet sidewalks scattered with leaves, a perfect testament to yesterday’s all day rain and wind.

October 19 - Day 49

The long view.

October 20 - Day 50

The little cottage built from a kit by Gerald R. Ford and his brother. Oh the history that abounds in this area.

October 21 - Day 51

No two sunrises are ever the same.

October 22 - Day 52

Ever once in a while you catch one of those moments.

October 23 - Day 53

Leading lines, a sunrise, and the lower path.

October 24 - Day 54

Most mornings it is just darkness now, so I have to use the lights.

October 25 - Day 55

Slowing down, it is an every day battle, but as we stood at the rail this morning and listened to the water in the channel, it made the slowing down so worthwhile.

October 26 - Day 56

Another rainy start to the morning. I am usually looking up or out to the horizon, so it was good to discover a new perspective today.

October 27 - Day 57

Atticus is quite interested in this dock this fall, now it is part of our route nearly every morning.

October 28 - Day 58

A calm lake this morning.

October 29 - Day 59

This feels like the perfect early morning Autumn photo. I love the contrast of light and dark.

October 30 - Day 60

This was the most perfectly colored predawn I have seen since starting this project.

October 31 - Day 61

This was taken at the end of our walk. Lots of low clouds, misty rain, and a sense of fog. We needed the headlamp for most of the walk today.

September 2022

September 1 - Day One

Starting slow and simple to see how far the idea of a photography project will carry me.

The weathered rail along a fishing dock.

September 2 - Day Two

Sunrises and unique framing, it is all about learning to see differently.

September 3 - Day Three

Weathered surfaces and numbers, those are things I want to bring into my paintings.

September 4 - Day Four

This cottage has stood empty through every season for as long as I have walked here, nearly a decade now. The place captivates me and scares me.

September 5 - Day Five

Labor Day, the last of summer, and all the beach towels are hung to dry one last time.

September 6 - Day Six

One of the things I have enjoyed over the years is photographing found items, they never fail to disappoint.

September 7 - Day Seven

Perfect Composition and another amazing lost and found item. The leading lines and how the eye travels from Atticus’ head to the tangerine to the orange towel to the orange sunrise sky.

September 8 - Day Eight

I love finding a frame for a shot. This life preserver filled the bill nicely.

September 9 - Day Nine

People can’t resist inscribing into the weathered wood. I don’t mind if it is random and adds to the weathered surface.

September 10 - Day 10

Another beautiful sunrise. This one has the historic pump house in the background.

September 11 - Day 11

On the other side of the full moon, but still a lovely sight in the morning sky.

September 12 - Day 12

Buckets of rain yesterday, and windy today. Waves rolling in the channel, and a lovely wet pavement.

September 13 -Day 13

The changing of the season is evident now, the snow fence posts are up.

September 14 - Day 14

A much needed adventure day for Atticus and myself. End destination was Muskegon State Park, the dunes, the open space, the absence of summer people. Very soul satisfying.

September 15 - Day 15

Back to our regular morning walk. The gentle pink in the sky drew me today. I processed this in the app. Carbon (BNW) and then backed off the strength a bit to regain the gentle pink.

September 16 - Day 16

The view in this area never grows dull. Even if I photographed just this spot every day, the view would still be different.

September 17 - Day 17

A harvest sunrise. I am always amazed how big the sun is for sunrise this time of year.

September 18 - Day 18

They must have started putting up the snow fences the day before. These poor things are so rickety, I am not sure how much good they do.

September 19 - Day 19

Always looking for a different view, and I do love the down low shot, as long as, I don’t have to get down low anymore.

September 20 - Day 20

Another gorgeous sunrise. Technically this was on the way to our morning walk, but I love capturing different perspectives.

September 21 - Day 21

Shot through the window of the entrance booth. Nobody manning them anymore this season. Shot towards the sunrise. Would like to do a series of these.

September 22 - Day 22

First day of Autumn and the most amazingly colored clouds this morning over the beach. I could get lost in those clouds.

September 23 - Day 23

Mittens needed this morning in the Mitten State. 46 degrees on our walk required mittens, a scarf and a heavier coat. The deer that wandered into the frame as I took this was a lovely bonus.

September 24 - Day 24

I love it when I can find interesting left behind items, and then compose a shot without having to move anything.

September 25 - Day 25

Rainy day, but I sure do love how the colors pop on these overcast days.

September 26 - Day 26

The lines and the simplicity caught my eye today.

September 27 - Day 27

The Sky! A bit like a J.M.W. Turner painting. I can’t paint like that, but I will take what nature gives me.

September 28 - Day 28

The Sky and vibrant colors seems to be the theme for the week. I loved that pink glow in the middle.

September 29 - Day 29

An early walk today because of FaceTiming with a dear friend. The colors this time of year make me so happy.

September 30 - Day 30

We don’t often go the reverse way on our walk, but almost always something wonderful awaits when we do the opposite.
